Listos CA understands that disaster preparedness is more than just having the right tools—it’s about fostering important conversations within communities. Recognizing that these discussions can often feel complex, Listos CA has developed two interactive and engaging games focused on emergency preparedness. These games not only break down complex topics into digestible information but also encourage individuals, families, and local leaders to talk openly about their, and their communities, emergency plans and preparation.

Players will foster mutual understanding, uncover hidden obstacles, and help strengthen their communities’ resilience. By combining learning with play, Listos CA makes preparedness both accessible and enjoyable for all.

Introducing Listos California’s Road to Safety Simulation Game: This groundbreaking, human-centered game is designed to make emergency preparedness and response as unique as the communities it serves. Developed with direct input from over 650 community and emergency leaders during the 2023 Cal OES Disaster Ready Summits, this simulation game will have you assume an avatar’s role and face their unique life circumstances while navigating your way to safety. We encourage you to play this game with friends, family, neighbors and colleagues to help train and educate on emergency preparedness.

In this game participants will personify a curated avatar and go through a series of events and decision points on their path towards safety. Throughout the game, participants are faced with addressing the avatar’s life conditions during a disaster. Navigating the avatar’s path to safety brings forward challenging discussions regarding gaps and opportunities to best serve the avatar. Additionally, participants are moved to emotions of empathy, compassion and overwhelm when faced with a lived experience unlike their own. We hope you find this thought provoking and innovative game useful in how we help Californians to be better prepared when disaster strikes.

Building off the success of the Road to Safety Simulation game, Listos California is excited to share a new game designed to foster a deeper understanding of community resilience and disaster preparedness.

Developed and fine tuned throughout the 2024 Cal OES Disaster Ready Summits, Route to Resilience has players encounter resilience-boosting actions and setbacks with the goal of advancing to safety. Along the way you can expect to share knowledge and collaborate with others to enrich group understanding on preparing, responding, and recovering from disasters.

The goal is to navigate through the board by addressing disaster scenarios and demonstrating resilience. Players will draw booster or setback cards as they land on ladder or slide spaces, engage in a conversation based on the scenario, and move up or down based on their own communities experiences and preparedness. The first player to reach the final square (Square 50) completes the game. After the game, participants will discuss their experiences and insights gained from the scenarios and actions taken during the game. This discussion aims to foster a deeper understanding of community resilience and disaster preparedness.
