This year’s summer season is expected to be even hotter than usual, leading to dry conditions that produce fuel for wildfires and increased risk for power outages due to stress on California’s energy grid. As Californians grapple with extended periods of high temperatures, individuals can often feel helpless, unable to escape the heat. Coupled with these risks, last winter’s heavy precipitation will contribute to fast-moving water in the state’s rivers and waterways, posing a danger to individuals trying to cool off from the summer heat by swimming in dangerously strong currents. Listos’ “Stay Cool California” campaign will highlight the steps that Californians can take to safely prepare for themselves and their families for all of the hazards associated with extreme heat.
